8 Ways to Spring into Action and Start Becoming a Better You

If fall and winter are the seasons where people sit back and reflect, then spring is the time to move forward and take action. For anyone who has been thinking about how to become a better version of themselves, here are eight ways you can get the ball rolling.

1. Decide what's important each day

Make a list of the things you would like to accomplish each day. After that, look it over to see what things on that list are the most important to you and shorten it to those things.

2. Say no sometimes

Part of prioritizing is figuring out the things that will take away from what you want to accomplish. Take some time to think about where the thing you are being asked to do fits in with your schedule and priorities. If it takes too much away, say no. You'll be much better off in the long run.

3. Practice mindfulness

Sure, mindfulness sounds like new age babble, but it can help you on your path to your better self. At its roots, mindfulness is about being aware and fully engaged in what is going on around you without overreacting or being overwhelmed by it, and there are ways to cultivate it in your life.

4. Wake up a little sooner

All of the above sounds great, you might say, but you have a busy schedule and not enough time. What is a good solution?

Try setting your alarm a little bit earlier than you have been - ten, fifteen, or thirty minutes. You can start your day with a clear mind and fresh direction for what you need to get done.

5. Make a habit of creating

Creating sounds like a process that is mysterious, terrifying and impossible to achieve when it is anything but that. Whether you are making a thank-you note, putting together a song playlist, taking a quick picture with your phone or writing down a list - you are creating something. Do it on a daily basis as a reminder that you can create the life you want.

6. Build your crew

Everyone has people in their life - some who make it better, and some who make it worse. If you have not already, invest some time this spring into finding and surrounding yourself with good people. You know, the kind of people who want to see you become the better version of yourself that you are working towards.

7. Learn something new

Learning does not stop once you leave the classroom, it's true. Doing so can be of more benefit than you know. Picking up a new skill, speaking a new language, establishing better habits can have a dramatically positive impact on your life.

8. Live in the moment

Having a goal and moving towards it is important, but so is taking the time to live in the moment you are in. Not everything in life happens twice. Don't get so focused on the end goal that you lose sight of what is going on around you and miss what could be some of the best times of your life.
