Easter is coming. One of the things that's been more commonplace in the recent years is some parents making Easter a second Christmas, by spending hundreds of dollars on their kids' Easter baskets. But what if you don't have the means to spend a lot of money on your child's Easter basket, or you simply don't want to? The good news is that you can still give your child a great Easter and save money at the same time. Below are some of the things that you can do to help you save money.
Go to Discount Stores
Places such as dollar stores and Five Below have great items that you can buy for kids of all ages. Dollar Stores like Dollar Tree have everything for a dollar or less. Don't let Family Dollar fool you, though, since their prices are more than a dollar. For electronics, movies, books and games, Five Below is a great choice. Everything there is $5 or less. They even have things like iPhone cases and headsets, so even older kids will love getting goodies in their baskets from here. They also have candy, so it can be a one-stop shop.
Check Out Bargain Bins
Target stores have some great bargain bins where you can find items for a dollar to three dollars. You can find everything here from craft items to pencils to even some hats and other items. You will never know what you'll find in these bins and they can sometimes be really surprising.
Don't Just Use Baskets
One of the best things that has happened recently, even though they can cost a bit more, is that parents have started using things other than baskets for their children's Easter gifts. The advantage of this is that not only can they give their child something unique with their gifts in it, but it's also something that they are going to use. Many parents put the Easter gifts in a pail, like they'd take to the beach. Not only will this save you space since the child can use it, but you can often find it at a good price.
Buy Fun Inexpensive Items
This is especially handy if you have a child who has allergies or who isn't fond of candy. With the nicer weather coming, you can give them items that they can use outside or that they can use to be creative. Some suggestions are:
- Sidewalk chalk
- Jump rope
- Coloring books
Remember, you don't have to go broke when you make your child's Easter basket. All you have to do is look around and see what you can find.
